Daman Diu: 15 district panchayat members from Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s United Janata Dal have joined the BJP.

Nitish Kumar, who broke the Rashtriya Janata Dal alliance in 2017 and continued to rule with the support of the BJP, formed an alliance with the BJP in the 2020 elections. Out of that, United Janata Dal won only 45 seats.

BJP won 77 seats. On the other hand, Tejashwi Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal, which had formed an alliance with the Congress and the Left, won 79 seats and was a shocker. However, BJP made Nitish Kumar the Chief Minister and was a part of the alliance.

However, as the United Janata Dal won more seats than the United Party, there were allegations that the BJP had taken power in the Bihar government and acted arbitrarily. Last month, Nitish Kumar convened a meeting of MPs and MLAs and announced that he would withdraw from the BJP alliance as the conflict between the parties continued.

Following this, the Rashtriya Janata Dal led by Tejashwi Yadav and the Congress, which were the main opposition parties, came forward to support Nitish Kumar. As a result, Nitish Kumar RJD, who resigned from the post of Chief Minister, was again sworn in as the Chief Minister with the support of the Congress. Tejashwi Yadav took oath as Deputy Chief Minister.
