What causes drought?
Boyang Lake, an important flood basin of the Yangtze in Jiangxi Province, central China, is largely dry without water. 66 rivers in 34 counties in the southwestern region of Chongqing have dried up. The government officials there say that the reason for this drought is the 60 percent lack of rain this year. Especially in the city of Paipei, the temperature went above 45 degrees Celsius.
Due to this, people suffered a lot. Chongqing region ranked 6th out of 10 hottest places in China. The temperature was so high there. Extreme heat has caused wildfires in some places in the mountains and forests of Chongqing region. Due to this, the emergency service officials were put to great difficulty. Deaths due to heatstroke have also increased in some parts of the province.
Gas supply canceled
Officials involved in gas distribution have said that as a safety precaution, gas supply will be canceled at some places with further notice. Agriculture has also been severely affected by the severe drought in the Chongqing region. As a result, the Chinese media are reporting that the authorities are also considering compensation. It will decrease after 26th
China has been on red alert for extreme heat for the 30th consecutive day. The China National Meteorological Center also said that the impact of the heat wave will begin to decrease after the 26th.
