Police are in the process of identifying the perpetrators of the riots at Kaniyamoor School next to Chinna Salem, Kallakurichi District, on the basis of video recordings of the vandalism and vandalism of school property.

Protesters gathered in front of the school and pelted stones at the police. The police tried to disperse them by using batons. Then the protestors broke into the school and smashed the classrooms. They carried away the table and chairs. Also, protesters set fire to school buses. School buses and police vehicles in the school premises were set on fire.

An investigation conducted by the police on the basis of intelligence information revealed that the protestors had gathered through WhatsApp for the protest held at the Kallakurichi school. It is said that the protestors started a WhatsApp group in the name of protesting for justice for the student’s death. They allegedly spread misinformation in those WhatsApp groups and incited many to violence.
The police arrested more than three hundred people in connection with the Kallakurichi violence. Further, an investigation team headed by Cybercrime SP Shanmugapriya has been constituted to identify those responsible for the violence. 20 people have been divided into 7 groups and the WhatsApp group admins who brought the youth together for the protest are collecting details of cell phone numbers of those who published social media posts related to the death of the Kallakurichi student.
The police have collected the mobile numbers of the people who were in the WhatsApp groups and are continuing to trace the people who participated in the riots. Based on the video footage released in relation to the riots, a youth named Nitish, who set the police vehicle on fire, was arrested and jailed.

After the massive violence in the school, some youths who came late entered the burning classroom, smashing the benches and pulling down the doors in their WhatsApp status. Rajkumar (24) and Karthi (25) from Shankarapuram area were identified and arrested yesterday through these scenes.
