A protest held on the 17th to demand justice for the death of a schoolgirl Shri Mathi in Kanyamoor private school in Kallakurichi district turned into a riot. During the riots, the protestors damaged and set fire to police vehicles parked near the school premises and school vehicles. Meanwhile, the Special Crime Investigation Division of the riot police has been transferred and is investigating the case.
Moreover, the Special Investigation Team police are continuously arresting the criminals with the help of video evidence. More than 300 people have been arrested so far in connection with the Kallakurichi school violence.
8 people have been arrested in one day for damaging the school building. Arunkumar, Kamalraj, Sridhar from Kallakurichi area, Sathyamurthy from Chinnasalem area, Balamurthy from Annavalli area of Cuddalore district, Rajkumar and Karthi from Shankarapuram area, Manish from Vandipalayam village of Cuddalore district, a total of 8 people were arrested on the same day by the Special Investigation Police.
Later, they were all produced before Second Criminal Arbitration Court Judge Mohammad Ali for forgery. Judge Muhammad Ali ordered the convicts to be remanded in judicial custody for 15 days.
So far, the Special Investigation Team police have arrested a total of 10 people in connection with this riot using video evidence. The Special Investigation Division police have also said that they will continue to arrest those who have damaged school property with video evidence.
