Kallakurichi: In connection with the death of a Kallakurichi girl, the officials of the State and National Child Protection Commission today conducted an investigation at the concerned private school in Kaniyamur.

The incident of suicide of a girl student of Periyanesalur village, Cuddalore district, who was studying 12th standard in a private higher school in Kaniyamur near Chinnasalem, Kallakurichi district, caused a lot of shock. Suddenly, violence broke out in the protest held by the student’s relatives and members of the public demanding justice for the death of the student.

Protesters beat the school and ransacked it. Property including school buses were set on fire by the protesters.

Due to this, the school cannot function. The case related to this incident, which shook Tamil Nadu, has been transferred to CBCID and the investigation is going on vigorously. Also, the Forensic Department also examined the site of the riot at Kaniamoor School. It has been reported that after the investigation is completed, the report will be submitted to the CBCID police and the Special Investigation Team within a week.

Meanwhile, online classes will start from today for school students affected by Kallakurichi. Also, it is planned to conduct live classes for students studying from 9th to Plus 2nd. Minister Anbil Mahesh Poiyamozhi said that temporarily these classes are also planned to be taught by the same school teachers. However, the parents of the students are opposing the conduct of online classes.

In this case, the State and National Child Protection Commission officials today conducted an inquiry with the parents of the deceased student’s hometown Periyanesalur regarding this matter. After this, the study was also conducted in a private high school in Kaniamur.

Kallakurichi District Collector Shravan Kumar and National Child Protection Commission officials Priyanka Kanungo, a 2-member National Child Protection Commission team headed by State Commission Committee Chairman Saraswathi Rangaswamy inspected the concerned school.

During this investigation, they examined the place where the student died and the school premises. Later, a review meeting was held in the district collector’s office under the chairmanship of the collector.

Priyanka Kanungo, officials of the National Child Protection Commission, who spoke to the media after the examination, spoke to the doctors, the district education officer, the child protection officer, the district collector, the district superintendent of police and other officers who examined the student’s body in the preliminary investigation held today at the Sri Sakthi Matriculation Higher Secondary School located in Kaniyamur, Kallakurichi district.

During the preliminary investigation of the school, the place where the student died and the hostel, some information has been obtained. And so far as we have observed there seems to be some flaws in the preliminary investigation. Among them, it has been revealed that the school hostel has not obtained a license from the relevant authority. After this, the Principal Education Officer and the concerned departmental office will investigate the matter and submit the report to the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu,” he said.
