The mysterious death of a class 12 student in a private school in Kanyamoor near Chinnasalem, Kallakurichi district, has created a sensation across Tamil Nadu. When violence erupted during the protest demanding justice for the student’s death, police vehicles, school administration buses, other vehicles and the school premises were torched by the protestors. The Special Investigation Team is actively investigating the incident.
So far, more than 300 people have been arrested and imprisoned in connection with this riot. This includes a certain amount of minors. Also, during this riot, the police are investigating with the cellphone network and the CCTV cameras in the middle of the road, and are making subsequent arrests.
In this case, it has been announced that a protest will be held on behalf of the Marxist Communist Party on August 5, seeking justice for the death of the Kallakurichi student. K Balakrishnan, the state secretary of the party in Kallakurichi, spoke to the press saying: When they fought for justice for the death of a student who died in Kaniyamur Sri Sakthi Matriculation School, Kallakurichi, the innocent students should be released. Also, the district collector, district SP, who was the official on that day, should be brought into the ring of inquiry regarding the deceased student. Are the school administrators being delayed day by day because of BJP and RSS? Various questions have arisen.
Although the court ordered the student’s parents to be with her during the post-mortem examination, the autopsy was carried out in violation of the order. Investigation should be continued and appropriate punishment should be given in the court. Central and state governments should provide financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh to the family of the deceased student.
