Ramanathapuram: Supporting actor Ramaraj, who gained attention with the movie ‘Avan Ivan’, passed away due to ill health. His body was cremated at Mudukulathur.

K. Ramaraj (70) hails from Melachakkulam village near Mudukulathur in Ramanathapuram district. Ramaraj, who hails from a farming family, retired as a manager in a co-operative bank. While working in a bank, he sang country songs in regional stage plays.

After retiring from the bank, he moved to Chennai due to his interest in acting and gained fame by playing the role of a cop in the film ‘Avan Ivan’ directed by Bala. He has also acted as a supporting and comedy actor in more than 20 Tamil films.

Actor Ramaraj, who was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Madurai for the past one month due to ill health, passed away last night. His body was brought to his house in Mudukulathur. Relatives and members of the public paid their respects there. Also, many actors have condoled his demise.

His body was cremated at Idughat in Mudukulathur at 3 o’clock today. Actor Ramaraj has wife Manikam and three sons Balasubramanian, Ravi Shankar and Aravind.
